She’s Adding Hooks to The Ends of Her Old Scarf to Prove You Can Make a DIY Upscale Camera Strap Too!

Are you getting tired of the same old boring, black camera strap that you’ve had for ages? Well, here’s a craft by TheSorryGirls that will help you fix that. All you’ll need is an old belt, swivel hooks, scissors and a sewing machine to spice up your boring strap!

Take your belt and cut off all of the excess material, including the part of the belt that contains the holes that you would normally use to adjust the size. Once you’ve done that, make sure that there is still enough material to wrap around your neck at a comfortable position. If the belt is a little too short, you should try again with a longer one, because it is important that you cut off the part with the holes.

If your belt has a certain side that you would like for it to show, make sure that you lay it down on your floor with that side facing up. You will now need to take two of your swivel hooks and slide it up your belt about two inches high. Make sure that the hook is wide enough to fit the belt, not causing any bunching of the belt on the sides. Fold the remaining tail part of the belt down and prepare to sew it all down.

Now that it’s time to sew down your straps, take a pin and slide it into the fabric that you have folded down underneath the swivel hook. You will have to sew in a box pattern with an x through the middle which is shown on the video. You can do this by hand but a sewing machine is recommended.

After you’ve completed sewing down both straps, you’re done! Don’t worry about these straps dropping your camera, because the belt is sure to hold it nice and sturdy.
