Drones have taken to the skies everywhere. Not just for the military anymore, many people are using drones now for a number of reasons. Not just for flying, today’s drones also often have cameras attached and the images and videos these drones take can sometimes lead to surprising results.

This drone was flying over the Pacific Ocean off of Newport Beach, California capturing video footage. The video itself is very short, but what it caught on camera is just amazing.

No one expected what was about to happen when this drone flew over a Humpback Whale. Most would probably expect that the whale wouldn’t even notice that the drone was there. Maybe the whale knew what it was doing, maybe it didn’t, but either way the video captured by the drone is stunning.

Right at the 8-second mark in the video, as the drone passed over the whale, the whale surfaces and blows a spray from it’s blowhole. It’s what the drone captures next that is so amazing. As the water crests, a rainbow appears. It truly looks as though the whale has exhaled the rainbow from itself.

Nature is a beautiful thing and the Humpback Whale is one of the most beautiful creates living on our planet. Seeing the rainbow over it in the air just adds to its incredible beauty.

This is definitely nature’s way of showing us all the wonders of this amazing animal. And if a rainbow appearing from a Humpback Whale doesn’t make you happy, then I don’t know what will. It certainly brought a smile to my face!
