This elderly couple in Atlanta, Georgia, just stopped in the middle of trying to find their train, to help a young man tie his tie. A man was sitting down and clearly struggling to figure out how to do a proper tie knot. It was obvious he had never done it before and judging from the way he was dressed, he was on his way to something important, like a job interview.

The wife of the elderly couple noticed the young adult and stopped to ask him, “Do you know how to tie it properly?” He replied, “No, ma’am.” So she caught her husband and asked him to come back and teach the man how to do it.

Without hesitation, the elderly man pauses to give the young man a step-by-step tutorial. He then had the boy undo it and repeat the steps to make sure that he would be able to tie it himself the next time.

What a perfect example of the little moments in life that can be real, legitimate ways of giving back to humanity. I love that the couple, realizing that no one had ever shown this guy how to tie a tie and probably never even had to wear one before, took time out of their day to do something that didn’t even benefit them personally at all! The epitome of altruism.
