You don’t have to be a Baby Boomer to know who the King of Rock and Roll is. With songs still being played at college pep rallies, professional ball games, and even covered by big artists, there’s no denying the true lyrical talent of Elvis Presley.

53 years ago, in September of 1962, ladies in skirts and gentlemen in suits eagerly awaited in lounges and bars to hear Elvis’ latest smash hit debut, Return to Sender. 

If you’re unable to get past that sultry glare and gorgeous smile, the song is about a man mailing a letter to is girlfriend after an argument. Continually, she writes “return to sender” and he keeps receiving back the letters reading, “no such person” and “address unknown.” Still, he refuses to believe the relationship is over.

I know what you’re all thinking, Who would break up with Elvis?!
