Turn an Old Mirror Into an Epic Mirror With One Simple Design Trick

Turn an Old Mirror Into an Epic Mirror With One Simple Design Trick

Erika Carter

A mirror is one of those vital household items for me. I can’t pass by one without looking at myself. Recently on a trip to one of those exclusive home furnishing stores, I was taken aback by the cost of a large decorative piece. Those things can cost an arm and a leg.

The couple executing this DIY saw a beautiful mirror on Pinterest, but instead of purchasing, they decided to create it for themselves. My kind of people.

They started out with a standard rectangle mirror and made some alterations. First, they made it into a square with a glass cutter. If you think breaking a mirror is bad luck, prepare for the next seven years. The husband breaks the mirror and sands the edges for a smooth finish.

He then takes a piece of string to find the center and traces a circle. That allowed them to create an octagon shaped mirror. He broke off the shards and sanded the edges. Now for the fun part.

The couple covered the mirror with window tint and cut out a design they liked. They then used gold spray paint and sprayed the entire mirror. This step should be done outside of the house.

They then cut out the rest of the window tint that was not part of the design and the finished product left me inspired.
