Roxy, 16, was a real-life Rapunzel, who had never cut her locks before. But after 16 years of growing your hair, the load can become heavy to carry. And since she was preparing for her 17th birthday, she wanted to do something a little different. She decided to cut her hair.
When the Virginian native stood tall, her hair fell well below her knees. In her transition from being a senior in high school to her first year in college, Roxy wanted a “more mature” look. What better way to do that than to shed her hair and donate it to charity. With the help of Seventeen magazine, she was given the makeover of a lifetime. The hair stylist says Roxy’s “shocking, unbelievable length,” makes for the longest hair he has ever seen donated to Beautiful Lengths!
By the end of the makeover, Roxy looks like a completely different person. Of course, Mom stands by her side at the photo shoot, crying tears of joy for her brave yet nervous daughter. With a Vanessa Hudgens esque-type bangs, the teenager shines with her new hair length and style.
Pantene launched its foundation Beautiful Lengths, which allows thousands of ponytails to be donated across the world. The generous donations have helped support hundreds of women undergoing cancer treatment.
What a great gift to give.
