For nearly five generations, the Lawrie family had only given birth to baby boys. Following a great-great-great aunt who was born in 1809, the same year as Charles Darwin, Abraham Lincoln and Edgar Allan Poe, one woman decided to take fate into her own hands .
Hannah did plenty of research on how to conceive a little girl, and after three attempts, this mother finally breaks the family’s 200 year streak and gives birth to a baby girl, Mayla Lawrie.
How’d she do it? Doctor’s always said there was a 50/50 chance of this family having girls, but Hannah wasn’t convinced.
Hannah settled on a 1960s idea called the Shettles Method. Any couple trying for a baby girl should have sex earlier in the woman’s cycle and then stop completely. It’s based on the idea that X chromosome sperm are slow but survive longer.
Then, 20 weeks into her pregnancy, doctor’s announce they were expecting a baby girl- news she never thought she’d ever hear! Her dreams (and efforts) finally came true!
Now, 4-month-old Myla Lawrie completes this family perfectly and proves that hard work really does pay off! This family couldn’t be any happier!
