Fried Macaroni and Cheese Bites Will Be Your New Favorite Snack!

Just in time for fall tailgating events and football parties, these fried mac and cheese balls are pretty much everything you’ve ever wanted in life. Yes. They really are that good.

Thanks to the bloggers behind Thrifty Jinxy, we bring to you a surprisingly easy recipe for gloriously cheesy, gooey, and fried balls of literal Heaven.

Can you tell we’re a fan of these Fried Macaroni Cheese Bites?

Big fans.

While making fried foods at home may not always be your MO — and believe us, we totally get the whole wanting to eat healthy thing — you’ll have to make an exception for these delicious goodies. While your jeans may not thank you after you shove an entire batch into your mouth (yeah, it’s pretty much impossible to avoid doing this), your taste buds certainly will.

To get started, you’ll need the following:

1 lb Macaroni

1 8oz packages of shredded cheddar cheese

1 1/4 cup Milk

1/2 cup Flour

1/4 cup Butter

2 Eggs

3 cup bread crumbs

Salt & Pepper to taste

Vegetable Oil (for frying)

The recipe itself is surprisingly simple and easy to follow. You’ll do the following:

Boil macaroni until tender. Then drain and set aside.

Melt butter over medium heat.

Make a roux by adding flour and mixing until light brown color

Add 1 cup milk and whisk

Add the shredded cheese, one handful at a time.

Mix until cheese is all melted

Add cooked macaroni to pan and mix until well coated.

Add salt and pepper.

Transfer to container that will fit in your refrigerator

Refrigerate for 1 hour or until cold.

Line a baking sheet with wax paper

Form cold macaroni and cheese into 1″ balls and place on prepared pan.

Place in freezer for 1 hour.

Beat eggs and add 1/4 cup milk in a bowl to make egg wash.

Dip balls into egg wash then roll in breadcrumbs to coat completely.

Heat oil in deep fryer to 320 degrees

Fry for about 3-4 minutes and drain.

Enjoy!
