11-year-old Rowan loves to read. The fifth-grader also LOVES comic books. From a young age she hated feeling left out as most of the superheroes are men and the ways female superheroes dress is, according to Rowan, “not practical.”
She had finally had enough and decided to write a letter to DC Comics and asked them to write more comics with female superheroes. The comic book company sent a tweet to Rowan that read, “Thanks Rowan. We agree, we’re working hard to create more superhero fun for girls!”
DC Comics didn’t stop there! They sent her a surprise basket that included a sketch of her as a superhero. She couldn’t have been more thrilled and is happy she stood for what she believed in. She will definitely keep an eye out for more female superheroes and keep DC Comics accountable for their promises!
