Man Builds Entire Home From Glass Bottles

Man Builds Entire Home From Glass Bottles

Angela Markus

There are many ways to upcycle unwanted materials we usually throw away.

Have you ever thought about building a home with your recyclables? Me neither, but someone has taken one brilliant idea and turned it into reality!

There is a very creative man from Prince Edward Island, who took 25,000 recycled bottles and cemented them together to make the now famous Bottle Houses.

They were built by the late Édouard T. Arsenault. The idea came about after receiving a postcard of a glass castle from his daughter in 1979, an attraction she had visited on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. A light bulb went off, and he started collecting bottles from his community. He would mostly collect from local restaurants, community dance halls, friends, relatives, and neighbors.

He spent an entire winter cleaning and preparing the bottles and started the project as a hobby. The inventive and resourceful design has become a truly unique home.

From a distance, you can’t really see what the house is made of. It looks like mosaic design. When you go closer, you see the artistry, patience, and brilliance.

This house has three main sections. It measures 280 square feet and has hypnotizing patterns that were created from the careful selection of bottle colors and sizes. The house contains an altar that displays beautiful colors during a sunset.

This is unequivocally, one of the best home designs I have ever seen. If you ever want to see architecture for yourself, take a drive to Prince Edward Island. For $6, you can behold all three of the fanciful structures.

Please SHARE the love and pass it on.
