It is horrifying to hear news of a missing person; the unknown of their whereabouts and condition can be heart-wrenching. Imagine the terror a 57- year old man felt when he went to visit his 79-year old mother in an assisted living home, only to find out that she was missing. Such was the case for Tony Sellers.

Tony went to the Daleview House for a frequent visit with Sadie, who is a grandmother to 11 and learned she had left the home without notice.

Sellers was expectedly worried and concerned as to where his mom could be. A search found Grandma Sadie is an unlikely place. Sadie went to a tattoo parlor to get her first tattoo.

Sellers walked into the tattoo shop, saw three huge men covered with tattoos, and in the middle was his 79-year old mother receiving a small and cute tattoo. When the mother was asked what would her children think of the tattoo, her response, “I don’t f***ing care!” She is quite a spunk.

Sadie explained that at her age, she has to live her life to the fullest. That is surely sound advice for everyone at any age. She left the home and ventured out to the tattoo parlor on her accord. She asked one of the tattoo artists how long will the little heart shape take? After he had replied five minutes, she was ready. She also told the newspaper that she didn’t feel a thing.

Sadie’s son was stunned at his mother’s act of bravery. He told the newspaper she is usually a prim and proper old lady, however behind closed doors, “She curses like a sailor.”

You can’t help but chuckle at his grandmother and admire her will to live despite her age. The morale of this story is live life to the fullest!
