Grizzly Bear Gets Friendly With Visitors at Yellowstone National Park

On a family trip to Yellowstone National Park you expect to spend some time in the great outdoors, go on a few hikes, roast some marshmallows, and maybe spot some rare animals. But what you don’t expect is to come face to face with a giant grizzly bear on the hood of your car.

David Peters and his wife, daughter and niece recently were on their way home from Yellowstone National Park when a grizzly bear stopped to say hi. They saw grizzly bears on the side of the road and stopped to take pictures.

It wasn’t long before one grizzly bear decided to walk up and see what they were all about. The video below shows this curious bear walking up to the car, sniffing around, and trying to paw his way in.

In an interview with ABC news, Peters said they were all amused by the bear, but his presence was a little overbearing for his poor car.

“It was exciting. Except I got my car kind of trashed,” Peters said. “The bear came over and jumped up (on) the car and just had its way the car for about five minutes.”

In the video you can hear the family laughing and freaking out, all at the same time. Once they turned the car on the bear scampered off and they were on their way.
