A person’s wedding day is the greatest, happiest and most memorable day of their entire life. This special day is a celebration of a new life you’re starting with someone else and is spent with family, friends and loved ones.
For Yacsel Gomez, the groom in this video, he was missing one VERY important person on this monumental day – his mother. Gomez was born in Cuba and with his mother’s help and encouragement moved to the United States to live with his father when he was 10-years-old. He moved to Miami, Florida and has been living there ever since.
According to him, his mother made the ultimate sacrifice a mother could ever make. Gomez says he is the man he is today because of her. Throughout the years he desperately tried to bring his mother to the United States, but with no success.
Before he got married he tried one more time to get his mother here, but unfortunately she was denied a visa by the Cuban government. Knowing how important this was to him, one of his groomsmen called his mother in Cuba and asked her to say a few words. He recorded the conversation and played it back at the wedding.
As soon as he heard his mother’s voice Yacsel Gomez instantly broke down in tears. This moment was so moving and touching that I doubt there was a dry eye in the house. I don’t speak Spanish so I couldn’t understand what she was saying, but even still seeing his reaction brought tears to my eyes.
For those of you that don’t speak Spanish either here is a rough translation of what his mother says: Hello! Congratulations my son. It’s your mother sending you my blessings. May God Bless your marriage & God willing, soon we’ll be together, my heart of my life. I’m happy and also in the hands of your grandmother who loves you very very much as well.
