Getting ready to throw your annual Haunted House themed Halloween party? You’re probably going to need some new scary attraction ideas to make your Haunted House spookier than any of your friends’. Well this bowl of green, gooey, slimy worms will make the perfect addition to that dark room where everyone has to feel around blindly, touching all kinds of nasty, scary (but secretly harmless) objects as they endeavor to find their way out…
These cringe-worthy “worms” are quick and simple to make. Begin with a bowl full of 2 cups boiling hot water. Pour in a packet of your favorite flavor of Jello, three packets of 10 gram gelatin. (Powdered gelatin packets can be found at your local WalMart or Target). Stir all together until all of the granules have fully dissolved to form a consistent watery-liquid. Leave the bowl to sit for about 30 minutes, or until the liquid has reached room temperature.
Next, grab some cheap extendable straws and pull them all as straight as possible. Wrap a rubber band around the straws to form a bundle. Stick the straws into a plastic cup. Then grab half a cup of thickened cream and lightly stir this into the gelatin mixture. Pour in about 15 drops of green food covering, and stir only a few times until the ingredients are roughly combined. Pour about half an inch of the green mixture, which should now be quite thick, over the tops of the straws. Place the cup in the freezer for about 20 minutes to allow this layer of green goo to set. One this layer is no longer runny, pull out of the freezer and pour the rest of your green liquid over the straws until they all are filled to the brim. Place the cup of straws in the refrigerator for about three hours, or until all of the liquid has turned to goo.
After the “worms” have set, remove them from their straw casings by lightly running hot water over one edge of the straw, until the goo becomes soft enough to gently push through the straws. When all the worms have been squeezed out of the straws, you will be left with a bowl full gross green gooey worms that will creep out even the bravest of your friends!
