When You See Just How Easy It Is To Make Healthy Homemade Dog Treats, You’ll Never Buy Them From The Store Again!

With recent dog food recalls and dog food scares, it’s no wonder that pet owners are looking for healthy and safe food alternatives for their dogs. Many dog owners have decided to go the natural dog food route. Although there are many natural food options available at the store, you can now make your pet’s meals yourself.

Thanks to Cassie from Back To Her Roots blog, we all can make perfect homemade dog treats recipes.

You will need, cooking spray, 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour, 1 cup wheat germ, ½ cup ground flax seed, 1 tablespoon honey, 3 eggs, ½ cup olive oil, 1 cup water, ½ cup applesauce, and ½ cup pumpkin puree.

Preheat the oven to 350°F, and coat a baking sheet with cooking spray; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, wheat germ, flax seed, and set aside. Get another mixing bowl, and combine honey, eggs, oil, water, applesauce and pumpkin puree. Mix well together until combined. Next, pour into dry ingredients and mix well.

Next form into a disc. On a well-floured surface, roll out until the dough is about ¼″ thick. Using a cookie cutter, cut out dog bone shapes and place on the prepared baking sheet ensuring they are 1-inch apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until treats are very brown and very hard.

Let them cool completely before giving them to your furry little friend for a taste test. Keep fresh in an airtight container.
