San Diego police officer, Jeremy Henwood, stopped for lunch one day at a local McDonalds and did something that he had no idea would ultimately become his final act of kindness.
A young boy approached Jeremy in the restaurant, asking for a couple dollars in order to purchase cookies. The goodhearted cop enthusiastically agreed to buy the kid the cookies – the boy joyfully accepting. All recorded on a McDonalds security camera, we witness the entire transaction go down.
But, this simple act of kindness, would tragically be Jeremy’s last. Moments after leaving that McDonalds, Jeremy was gunned down and sadly lost his life. After having just returned from Afghanistan, this hero will be more than missed. Thousands attended his memorial service, all bursting with bountiful tales of Jeremy’s chivalry and bravery, summing up the way he lived.
His simple, yet incredibly kind gesture, probably would have gone unnoticed if it weren’t for the awful events that followed. If you can take one thing away from this video, please remember – “kindness can go a long way, but life isn’t always fair.”
