A mother found more than she expected in the restroom of a Lancaster, California Starbucks when she went in with her 5-year old son.
“Mommy, why is there a phone under there?” Those are the words that led the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, to find a hidden recording device.
She looked under the sink and found the camera phone propped up by paper towels. It was obviously hidden there on purpose since it was pointing at the toilet.
The woman was glad her son found the phone.
“I noticed he was staring at the sink a little bit perplexed. I asked him what was wrong and he said, ‘Mommy, why is there a phone under there?’”
She was disgusted by the discovery of the phone in the rest room.
“It’s such a violation of privacy,” she said. “Not only of mine, but my son. What was the intention? Where was it going to go?”
Lt. Joseph Fender, an officer with Lancaster police confirmed that the cellphone was running and recording video. “They were able to get some type of surveillance video from the location, however I don’t know what the contents of the video are at this time,” Fender said.
A Starbucks spokesperson indicated that Starbucks would do whatever necessary to get to the bottom of this and catch whoever is responsible.
Lancaster police have stated that there are currently no suspects, though they are still looking, according to Lift Bump.
It’s really quite lucky that this five-year old found the camera. Who knows how many people this camera filmed? It’s quite a disturbing thought.
It’s shocking, but in a way, this little boy is a hero. If you agree, SHARE the love and pass it on.
