Hiker On First Date Gets Swept Away To His Death During Flash Flood

Erika Carter

Tragically, a man on a first date lost his life while attempting to cross a river in San Bernadino County, California, on Tuesday, September 8. The identity of the man has not yet been released, though he is believed to have been about 28 years old.

The woman he was on a date with survived, as she was somehow able to remove herself from the river. An off duty sheriff’s deputy heard her screaming and ran to her aid, though tragically, he could not find the male she was with.

The female is said to be from Rancho Cucamonga and she was picked up and reunited with her family after being checked out by first responders. Though she was not physically hurt, we can only imagine the emotional toll such a thing has had on her.

Given the current weather conditions, officials strongly advised against going in the water out in Southern California.

We hope that this tragic tale will be a lesson for future hikers. It is simply not worth it to take such a risk.
