Hiking is one of those recreational activities that people love for so many reasons. It is great for exercise and one of the best ways to explore nature. Many people like to hike because it helps to reduce stress and it is an escape from technology.
While hiking last summer in Glacier National Park, Trevor Rasmussen had a scary encounter with a mountain lion.
At first, the mountain lion sits and stares at Trevor from about 50 feet away. Just when you think she’s about to carry on her feline way, she starts walking towards Trevor.
We can hear the expected tension in Trevor’s voice as he yells out to the cat to stop in his tracks.
Unworried by the shouts and screams, the mountain lion continues to move, not toward Trevor’s direction but downhill. But- he seems to be getting closer.
Rather than screaming or running for dear life, Trevor continues to shout at the giant cat, this time in a more threatening tone.
The cat continues downhill, sneakily checking out Trevor, unphased by the man who hollers at her. But then, to Trevor’s luck, she walks away.
You can hear the relief in Trevor’s voice as he calls out to the cat, “Hey bud!”
The tense standoff turns funny as fear became comic relief. Phew! You can breath now…
What would you do if caught in such a standoff?
SHARE the love and pass it on.
