College student Casey Fisher was having a typical morning. She stopped by the local Dunkin Donuts to grab a coffee when she saw a homeless man sitting near the side of the road. Fischer noticed that he was collecting coins off of the ground. Feeling heartbroken, she decided to buy him some breakfast and get to know him better.

The man, whose name is Chris, opened up to Fisher:

“He told me a lot about how people are usually very mean to him because he’s homeless, how drugs turned him into the person he hated, he lost his mom to cancer, he never knew his dad and he just wants to be someone his mom would be proud of (along with another hours worth of conversation.)”

Fisher spent the morning chatting with Chris, and before he left he handed her a small crumpled up piece of paper. The note read:

“I wanted to kill myself today because of u i now do not. Thank u, beautiful person.”

Casey posted the note on her Facebook page, which was quickly liked and shared by thousands. Her story was also featured on the popular Facebook page “Love What Matters”, which shares “inspiring personal stories of love, hope, and what matters most.”

It’s heartwarming to see how one small act of kindness can touch so many!
