Life can hit you like a ton of bricks. That’s what happened to James Moss when he moved across the country from New York to Denver for a new job. Moss had lodging accommodations set up for himself upon his arrival. Much to his shock, he found himself homeless when his living arrangement fell through.
He doesn’t own a car, was lost in an unfamiliar city with very few options, fewer resources and his 1-year-old son, Zhi, at his side. After a few days, Moss was approached by author and philanthropist, Leon Logothetis. Logothetis heads up the #GoBeKind charity, which promotes kindness worldwide, and wanted to help Moss out. Admiring Moss’s commitment to his job and his family, Logothetis gave Moss $1,000 and put them up in a hotel. A video of their conversation was put on #GoBeKind’s YouTube page and soon went viral. After a GoFundMe page was launched by Kayla Heskett from Goodland, Kansas, donors have raised over $34,000 dollars for Moss and his son.
Moss is no longer living in a shelter and his employer is even allowing him to bring his son to work with him until he finds affordable childcare. What an amazing happy ending!
