Homemade Cream Puffs 3 Different Ways!

Homemade Cream Puffs 3 Different Ways!

Genevieve Lopez

Today is your lucky day! One of our favorite bakers, Gemma Stafford, is showing us her recipe for her delightful light cream puffs! Along with this, there is a chocolate ganache sauce recipe to make them even better!

What you’ll need is: hot water, unsalted butter, salt, flour and eggs for the main recipe.

Here’s what you need to do to make these delicious treats:

First, preheat your oven to 425 degrees.

In a medium sized saucepan, on medium heat combine your 1 cup of hot water and ½ a cup of unsalted butter. Bring it to a slight boil allowing your butter to melt. Then, add in 1 cup of flour! Make sure that you whisk it at a steady pace to ensure that no lumps are created. Now, use a wooden spoon as you continue to stir and lightly cook the dough. It should take around 2-3 minutes for the dough to be ready, you’ll be able to tell once the dough starts pulling away from the sides of the pan! Now you can turn off the heat and remove the pan.

In a bowl, mix together four large eggs and whisk them together. Gradually add them to your dough mixture but make sure that you constantly mix the batter in order to keep the egg mixture from cooking due to the temperature of the dough. Keep doing so until all of your eggs have been added in.

Now, add your mixture into a piping bag.

Grab yourself a baking sheet and some parchment paper. Stick down the corners of your parchment paper with small dabs of the mixture that you have just created.

Start piping down your mixture onto the baking sheet into a nicely rounded circle. Make sure that you leave a good amount of space between each circle so that they don’t end up sticking together. After this, take a little bit of water on your fingertip and smooth down any part of the batter that may be sticking up. This will prevent them from burning. Now sprinkle your pan with a little bit of water over top of your cream puffs.

Stick them into your preheated oven for 15 minutes. After that 15 minutes is up, lower the oven to 350 degrees and allow them to bake for another 10 minutes. Make sure not to open the oven while their baking. Allow them to cool before you begin to fill them.

Slice your cooled puffs in half, and make sure that the centers are hollow and light. (They shouldn’t be dense and cakey, if they are just pop them back into the oven!) Now you can fill your puffs with a freshly whipped cream, strawberries, ice cream or anything else that you desire!
