If you love delicious and decadent meringues, you are not the only one. The sweet, crisp topping that goes well with pies is one of my favorite treats. This tutorial is perfect since I have never experimented with making them myself.
Now, we all can experiment with this super-easy recipe from Mumsnet.
She shows us how to make meringue in our microwaves. Yes, in our microwaves with no whisking required. Professionals will elude to the fact that the meringue recipe is somewhat complex. Surprisingly, there are only two ingredients used. You will need an egg and a bowl of powdered sugar.
If you love the kitchen like I do, you will enjoy the ease of perfecting this recipe, and your taste buds will surely thank you.
First, she cracks an egg onto a plate and covers the yolk with a mug. By doing that, the egg white can easily run into the bowl with the powdered sugar.
She then kneads the sugar and egg mixture for three minutes until it is coagulated. Next, she divides the big ball into marble size balls and places four on a small plate for a test run.
As we see in the video, the balls must be spaced out on the plate because, the way the balls go in, is not the way they come out. She then microwaves for one to two minutes. Depending on your microwave, the time may differ.
The fun thing about this recipe is you can tweak to enhance the taste. You can add nuts, chocolate chips, or vanilla extract to sweeten the meringue. Play with the recipe to craft your version of perfection.
