If you’re a pasta lover like me, then you probably *think* you know a thing or 2 about how to make pasta. Right? WRONG!

After watching this video I realized that I have been cooking pasta dishes wrong just about my entire life.

If you (like me) cook your pasta in water, drain when ready and set aside to tend to the sauce – I’ll stop you right there. First, all the water you just dumped out – you want to save that. Second, if you’re one of those people who then rinse off the drained pasta, don’t do this either! It gets rid of starches that help the pasta absorb all that yummy sauce.

What you should be doing is transporting your pasta directly to your pasta sauce. Then, with that starchy pasta water (that you didn’t dump down the sink) you’ll take a nice big spoonful and add it to the sauce. This will help give your pasta that extra little shine. To make your pasta the creamiest, tastiest version that it can be, add in a few more ingredients and BAM, talk about delicious!
