1/2 cup pepper jack cheese, shredded

vegetable oil

Dipping sauce:

2 tablespoons of buttermilk

1 tablespoon of ranch seasoning

In a bowl, combine your cornmeal, flour, sugar, cheese and pepper. Add in your egg and buttermilk and stir. Allow your batter to sit for 10 minutes before moving on to the next step.

Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil over medium high on the stove until it reaches 375 degrees. Use a small scoop to drop batter into the oil and let them cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side.

When they’re golden brown remove them from the oil and let them drain on a paper towel.

There you have it, the perfect hush puppy recipe! SHARE the love and pass it on!
