Marty Ray Throws it Back With His Southern Cover to Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby”

Remember Vanilla Ice, the white hip hop rapper who made a huge name for himself in the 90’s? Whether you do or don’t, you’ve probably heard of his smash hit, Ice Ice Baby. The song was released in 1990 and broke records! It was the first hip hop single to top the Billboard charts and became the anthem for all 90 kids’ lives.

With all of its success and covers, you have never heard a cover like this one…

Meet southern singer Marty Ray. He recently released a video of an acoustic version of this song and it’s going viral! Marty’s cover is unexpectedly mind-blowing. It’s no wonder why it has over 800,000 views on YouTube alone.

Marty’s version is simply melodic. He has perfected the arrangement and performance of the song to a T. In my opinion, this version is much better than the original. C’mon, it’s 2015!

Marty has been singing and writing music since he was 12. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Blytheville, Arkansas, Marty grew up among a family of musicians, preachers, singers and songwriters. Makes sense now, right?

With a firm belief in Jesus, this talented man claims he loves everyone, whether they like his music or not. Marty also admits that he refuses to allow anyone to put him in a box creatively, especially a record label.

With a strong following and a gifted voice, this won’t be the last we hear of Marty Ray.
SHARE the love and pass it on.
