Make Your Own Hot Chocolate With This DIY Blend

Few beverages are engrained in our collective childhood memories quite like hot chocolate. It’s a drink that reminds us of snow days, sledding, and our favorite winter holidays. What is it about a hot mug of chocolate that brings a smile? This season, instead of making a hot cup with hot chocolate packets, try this recipe. It is will surely take you back.

The recipe is courtesy of America’s Test Kitchen. For this instant cup, you only need three ingredients. Grab a 12-ounce bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 cup of heavy cream and ¼ teaspoon of salt.

Add all the ingredients to a bowl and microwave for approximately 2 minutes. Occasionally take the bowl out of the microwave to stir and mix the ingredients.

After the time is up, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours. Next, you will scoop balls out of the hardened mixture onto a plate. You will then wrap each ball in plastic wrap and transfer into a Ziploc bag. This bag can stay in the refrigerator for 5 days or the freezer for 2 months.

To make a cup of hot chocolate, remove one of the wrapped balls and place in a cup of milk. Microwave for two minutes stirring occasionally.

She was definitely right, it is rich and creamy! SHARE the love, pass it on.
