If these cookies look like they taste the rainbow…it’s because they do! No, it’s not just food coloring that give these cheerful sweets their multihued radiance, it’s something a bit more outside of the box (well technically inside a box, lol!)

To his favorite sugar cookie recipe, Todd of Todd’s Kitchen adds in one special ingredient, Jell-O! With every colorful flavor, the cookies transform into a tray of rainbows, each magical color coinciding with its Jell-O counterpart.

Pick your preferred flavors of choice as the options are endless. For my first batch I think I will go with vibrant blueberry, sunny strawberry and pastel pistachio! Todd suggests adding a few drops of the according food coloring to make the colors really pop!

While you can use any sugar cookie recipe you fancy, the recipe used in the video is as follows:

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter
4 packages of jello – 2 tablespoons per quarter
Food coloring
