Every year, hundreds of kids die from one simple parenting mistake. According to Kars4Kids, 618 kids have died in the U.S. since 1998 from being left in a hot vehicle for far too long. What makes these unnecessary deaths even more tragic is that they are 100% preventable.
That staggering number encouraged Kars4Kids, a non-profit dedicated to educating parents on car safety, to create this eye-opening social experiment.
They asked adults to sit in a hot car for as long as they could withhold their composure, proving just how dreadful the feeling is for children left in cars. If the adults could last 10 minutes, they’d get $100.
Not surprisingly, not a single one of them lasted.
A red button sat before them. Once they felt overwhelmed, they’d push the red button to be released from the vehicle.
One woman at the end of the video said, “I could press the button, they[children] couldn’t press the button. They’d just be sitting there.”
If this isn’t eye-opening enough, I don’t know what is. Be careful out there this summer!
