Somehow watching kittens makes everything that is bad about the day go away. One nurse who has the pleasure of working with these little fuzz balls all day long invited us on a tour of what it is like to work at a kitten nursery.
The San Diego Humane Society is a nonprofit organization which works hard to provide an array of services to abandoned or ill-treated animals. The organization works as a shelter, adoption agency, investigator of animal cruelty and neglect, as well as a training facility. The organization does not operate on government funding but rather grants, investments, and donations among other sources.
In their kitten nursery, they are flooded with kittens from shelters and rescue groups around the country. Some of the baby kittens require special attention, and prior to such a program being offered by the humane society, brand new baby kittens would have been euthanized.
One nurse shows what her day is all about. She feeds the tiny kittens, gives them medical care, bathes and blow drys them, and feeds some babies who eyes haven’t opened yet. It is hard to think that people could be so cruel to these delicate creatures, but the good people at the nursery are there to take care of them and ensure that their lives are happy!
Enjoy the cuteness!
Please adopt a kitten today, but first SHARE the love, pass it on.
