Mother Knit a Life-Sized Version of Her Son Because She Missed His Cuddles

All parents dread the moment their children refuse cuddles and deny public displays of affection.

When one mother felt abandoned because her little boy was hitting puberty and denied any opportunity for cuddles, she came up with an ingenious solution.

She decided to knit a life-size replica of him and now cuddles with it instead.

Marieke Voorsluijs, a textiles designer from The Netherlands, says the life-size knit took about two months to make, and she had both her sons’ blessing.

According to Bored Panda, Marieke mentions that she is part of a knit club that knits “realistic everyday stuff.” She also explained that when her son was younger, she would receive cuddles all of the time, but as he has gotten older, those moments are long gone. While she accepts that this is ‘exactly according to nature’s plan,’ she missed the hugs.

So, in consultation with her son, she came up with a way of giving him his personal space while indulging her ‘smother mother’ tendencies.

In addition to knitting teenage boys who seem to love fast food, she has also created replicas of hams, television sets and plants. She has definitely raised the bar with a woolly doppelgänger.
