She Adds Powdered Sugar To Her Laced Cupcakes To Reveal a Dessert Almost Too Elegant To Eat

There’s something about lace that is just so elegant. It adds just a tiny bit of class to just about anything, especially for Chef Katy, who runs the Sweet Verbena cooking tutorials website all about cupcakes! It may sound a little odd at first, but these “Lace Stenciled Cupcakes” are to die for. They both taste and look, elegant and delicious!

To make these yourself, purchase an ⅛ of a yard of lace and cut it into 12 separate squares. This will make you 12 cupcakes. If you’d rather make 24, buy ¼ of a yard instead.

Purchase a box of your favorite cupcake mix, or make your own from scratch. When they come out of the oven, place a square of lace over each cupcake and very generously sift powdered sugar over the lace.

It’s important to use a different square of lace for each cupcake and not to try to cut corners by reusing, because the powdered sugar will fill the holes (which is the entire point) and that is the part giving you your perfect lacey look.

The cupcakes come out absolutely lovely, and are a great low-sugar dessert option, since there’s none of that heavy frosting on top. This method looks best if done on either red velvet or chocolate cupcakes, but will taste equally delicious on any flavor or color of cupcake.
