Grandparents, parents, older siblings, babysitters – we all know how ecstatic (and a little relieved) we get when we finally find a craft or toy that can occupy the little ones. But, how many times do you see children gripping an iPad or iPhone, eyes glued to the glowing screen? Way too often! Wouldn’t it be nice to have some good, old-fashioned fun?

Well, lo and behold this easy-to-make craft that is as good as gold!

The thrifty blogger over at Little Bins For Little Hands created a gold slime for some glittery sensory play just for your children! She’s all about learning through playing and finds the most innovative projects to create quick and easy crafts perfect for play time!

With a limited budget, she uses a few ingredients to make a sparkling slime that will captivate the little ones (no computer screen needed!) Not only is this washable glue creation beautiful, it feels like liquid gold!

The recipe and instructions for the gold slime include:

1/2 cup of glitter glue and clear Elmer’s glue (She says she used about 2/3 glitter glue and 1/3 clear glue, but the proportions don’t have to be exact!)

Add this mixture to a bowl with 1/2 cup of warm water and mix.

Next, add the new mixture to a bowl containing 1/2 cup of starch and knead with your hands.

Once it’s completely mixed, transfer to a clean container.

She says at first you may be hesitant that it didn’t come out as planned, but don’t fret! The warmth of those little hands playing with the gold slime will create the perfect consistency!

Who needs plain Play-Doh when you can have stretchy slime that’s worth it’s weight in gold!?
