The cronut. If you haven’t heard of this trendy new fad hitting bakeries across the country, hold on to your seats.

A sinful combination of croissants and donuts, these flaky pastries are sending tastebuds everywhere into a frenzy!

While I initially thought his popular creation could only be found in upscale cafes or world renowned bake shops, with lines filed all the way down the block, the following tutorial from Cookies Cupcakes and Cardio shows us how to get these tasty treats right in our very own kitchen!

With simple ingredients like pre-made Pilsbury crescent dough and instant Jell-O pudding, the journey to get to the finished product is actually a lot easier than you’d imagine!

Ingredients:

• Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
• Vegetable Oil
• Chocolate Ganache
• 1/2 cup icing sugar
• vanilla pudding
• 2 teaspoons milk
• Sprinkles
• Flour

While your oil is reheating to 350F, remove the dough from the carton and roll it out flat. Fold it in half, in half again, and in half at least once more. You should have a multi layered square piece of dough.

Using a large circular cookie cutter, cut out the donut. Use a smaller circle cutter to remove the middle section.

Carefully place the donut dough into the hot oil and fry on the first side for 2-4 minutes. Flip over and after a couple more minutes, when the donut has reached a warm, brown color, remove with a skimmer and place onto paper towel to cool.

When the cronuts have cooled, use a piping bag to insert the pudding into the sides.

You can get creative with the final step, decorating your cronuts however you see fit. This baker chose a mixture of vanilla and chocolate ganache with a dash of sprinkles!
