Melissa Ohden’s mother had an abortion, an abortion intended to end her life, but Melissa survived. 

Never intended to be born alive, Melissa’s 19-year-old single mother was almost 8 months pregnant with Melissa when she went into the she went into the hospital to have a saline infusion for an abortion. This type of abortion involves injecting a toxic saline solution into the amniotic fluids surrounding the pre-born baby in the womb. The intent of the solution is to actually scald the child to death, from the outside in. 

Melissa soaked in this solution for 5 days until her mother was induced into labor. The mother gave birth to a dead child, or so everyone believed. That was until one nurse happened to hear a muffled cry. That nurse understood Melissa’s life was worth trying to save, and so she did just that.
