Child Write A Letter To His Dog In Heaven And Gets A Letter Back!

Erika Carter

A random act of kindness by a postal worker recently made the day of a 3-year-old boy and his mother.

Last April, the dog of little Luke Westbrook passed away. Luke’s mother, Mary, missed the family’s beloved dog Moe almost as much as Luke did. He was a hard dog not to miss considering he had been in the family for about 13 years.

In order to cope with their loss, Mary would sit at the kitchen table with Luke to write a letter to Moe every now and then. When they would finish writing the letter they would place it in the mailbox. Mary said that most of the time they would address it to ‘Moe Westbrook, Doggie Heaven, Cloud 1’.

She usually would just remove the letter when Luke wasn’t around. However, one time she forgot and just thought that someone from the post office would throw it away or maybe even laugh at them for writing a letter to a dog in heaven. Thats when she and Luke got the surprise of their lives. They found a letter in their mailbox from Moe and it said:

“I’m in doggie heaven. I play all day, I am happy. Thank you for being my friend. I wuv you Luke”.

In a blog post for Distinction Magazine, Mary wrote. “Receiving the note reminded me of the goodness of people and just how big a small gesture can really be. Here’s to Moe, in doggie heaven, and thoughtful postal workers everywhere”.

This is something that both Luke and Mary will never forget. Hopefully the random act of kindness from a postal worker, just delivering the mail, brought a smile to the faces of a mom and a little boy who were grieving over the loss of their precious dog Moe.

No matter what you do today remember to, SHARE the love and pass it on!
