Grab the tissues! What the nursing staff of Albany Medical Center Hospital did for one 4-year-old cancer patient will surely bring you to tears.
This little princess was diagnosed with leukemia when she was just barely old enough to fully experience the butterflies that fairytales can give a girl. While admitted in Albany Medical Center Hospital, she was surprised by the medical staff with the perfect fairytale wedding, adorned with flowers, party guests, and even a wedding dress.
A vail drapes down her hair, a bouquet of flowers accessorize her white dress, and it’s easy to forget her face mask guard beneath her beaming eyes when she enters the “reception.”

When she walks into her hospital room, a trail of red and pink roses lead up to her prince charming Matt Hickling, also known as her favorite nurse. Medical staff gathered around the two embracing one another, cheering with glee at this precious moment

The Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers managed to pull off the entire event with less than 24-hour preparation time. Lori Ciafardoni, the nurse who got the entire mock wedding on film, rejoiced about her fellow staff members, “You people are amazing. THIS is why we go into nursing.”
