Humor is therapeutic. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any illness. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy. Not to mention, it triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Especially before something as harsh as chemotherapy. Even more so when it comes from your baby who has a knack for making the funniest faces.
Joey Feek of the country duo Joey & Rory is facing a tremendous health battle, with her faith unshaken. Their beautiful daughter Indiana, who has Down Syndrome, loves to make her mama laugh. The laughter is much needed as the family has faced many challenges in recent months.
Earlier this year, the musical husband and wife discovered that the cancer for which Joey had previously been treated spread to other parts of her body. Joey is seen eating breakfast in a hospital cafeteria shortly before her first chemotherapy treatment with her daughter and husband. Their daughter, Indiana, makes the most hilarious faces at her mother, which causes Joey to burst out laughing. Dad fittingly captioned the moment posted onto Facebook with the note, “I think Indy knows that laughter is her mama’s best medicine!”
On their blog, This Life I Live, the couple shares updates on the progress of Joey’s health and her unbelievable courage.
Isn’t Indy just awesome!
