The Man O’ War Is a New Threat To Beaches. It Looks Pretty But Touching It May Cost You Your Life!

Every summer tons of people flock to the beaches to enjoy the nice sunny weather. Occasionally you will hear about a random shark attack, beached whale, jelly fish close to the shore or beaches being closed due to high levels of bacteria in the water. Now there’s a new threat to the safety of swimmers and it’s called the Man O’ War. It is a creature that is native to Portugal but has been seen recently on beaches in America. Beaches in New York and on the Jersey Shore have been littered with bunches of them. The really scary thing about the Man O’ War is that they are potentially deadly to humans.

These zooids look extremely similar to the normal, everyday jellyfish but they are, in fact, entirely different. Zooids are smaller beings who attach to each other in order to form the larger organism, the Man O’ War. Some of these creatures have tentacles that are 30 feet long! The Man O’ War sting causes burning and intense pain, but they have a history of killing humans in the past. That’s awfully scary to have to think about when you’re only trying to spend a day on the beach having fun in the sun.

You shouldn’t cancel your plans to enjoy the beautiful summer weather. Don’t be afraid to go to the beach. Just be aware of your surroundings and what’s going on. Look out for these creepy creatures that have the potential to cause you so much pain and could possibly kill you. Enjoy your summer in the way you normally do. We all know that the sun and warmth isn’t going to last forever. Before you know it, there will be leaves falling and then snow on the ground.

SHARE the love and pass it on.
