As parents, we all pray that our babies will be happy and healthy, bouncing bundles of joy.
Even after Tessa Prebble found out that her daughter, Eva, would be born with CHARGE syndrome (leaving baby Eva blind, deaf and with heart and brain defects) she chose to celebrate the miracle of her daughter’s life.
Baby Eva survived for 10 months but what was most shocking was the stranger who asked Tessa if she felt relieved after Baby Eva had died.
Tessa responded in a way that any mother would when asked about their child. She talked about how happy of a baby Eva had been but went even further to let this stranger know that Eva was not a burden to her so there was no “relief” with Eva’s passing.

To ask any grieving mother to place value on their child’s life is something that would seem extremely insensitive to most, but this mother responded in such an awesome way.

Stories like this really remind you just how precious life really is, no matter how long of a life you live. There is value in a life that lasts merely a few hours just as much as there is value in a life lasting more than 90 years. Loss is something that will always be difficult for people to live with, but there are plenty of things to be learned from a life as precious as that of Baby Eva’s.

We must learn to appreciate the time we have with our loved ones and to not take anything for granted. We must live life in a way that will leave behind a positive legacy for people to appreciate long after we are gone. Even though Baby Eva lived a mere 10 months, she teaches us the true beauty of a meaningful life.
