If you’ve ever witnessed the havoc that earthquakes can wreak, then you are fully aware of how frightening this rare act of nature can truly be.

While the majority of earthquakes experienced are low on the Richter scale and cause minimal damage, some, like the one captured in the video below, can reach magnitude powers and turn entire cities inside out.

If you are unfortunate enough to be caught in one of these frightening forces of nature, there’s not much you can do but to find shelter and above all, stay calm. Thanks to one 15-year-old son who was able to capture this rare footage of his mother, we are given an inspiring demonstration of how to do just so.

While out to dinner one night, a 9.0 earthquake struck with vengeance. Mom knew the only thing she could do is hold her child and comfort him the best she could. Watch as her calm demeanor stays intact the entire time. Because her son was able to see that Mom was calm, the whole situation suddenly becomes a touch less scary for the young boy.

Good job Mom – I can’t imagine how hard it would be to stay composed in an event like that!
