If you’ve ever watched any documentary on macaque monkeys, then you might have a good idea of how much this animal is like a human.

If you haven’t, then you can probably get a sense from these pictures.

An unlikely bond between a rhesus macaque monkey and a puppy has mystified curious crowds on the streets of Erode, India.

The monkey apparently took a stray pup under her wing and nurtured the pup just like she would her own.

The macaque ensured her adopted dog ate well while keeping a tight hold on the little furry guy.

Local residents who found the pair endearing provided food for them and watched as the monkey allowed the puppy to eat before she did.

Rhesus macaque monkeys are usually found in India, Afghanistan, Southeast Asia, and China. They have an extremely high ability to adapt to their habitat, in fact, many macaques live among humans in India. The animals are left undisturbed as they are considered sacred by the Hindus.
