Was it an innocent mistake or misdemeanor? An Arizona mother of four was charged with child endangerment after leaving her two-month-old son in a shopping cart in front of a grocery store. The 27-year-old Cherish Peterson said she was flustered, rushing around a Fry’s grocery store in Gilbert, Arizona, where she went to buy candy for her nephew’s birthday party.
The mom of four did not realize she left her son, Huxton, in the cart outside her car until she got home. She immediately rushed back to the store to get her son. Fortunately, Huxton was spotted almost immediately by an off-duty police officer, who took him to a salon next door.
Gladly, the infant was not injured in any way. CBS reports that Police said Peterson returned to look for her baby within 40 minutes after she realized what happened.
Giving an emotional interview to the news giant, Peterson said, “I got into my car, and normally I put my cart away. But I didn’t need to because I parked at the front of the store and I never park there. And I drove away.”
Cherish’s husband Nathan also told the news station, “A mistake was made, and we’ve learned. But the reality is we’re not perfect. We’re not perfect, but we love our family, and we love our children. And we’re grateful that everything is OK.”
Although some are supporting Cherish, since mishaps happen, it has ignited a firestorm all over the internet. Many are proclaiming Cherish to be a horrible mother.
Many outraged people went to Twitter to share their thoughts.
