The magnitude of the chaos can range widely on this planet Earth. Like a giant crack appearing, literally, out of nowhere. A pair of hunting guides came across a bizarre sighting in a remote part of Central Wyoming. It was an unexplained crack in the ground. The guides did not think much of it until they returned. What they saw was most shocking.
It is unsure how the large crack in the Earth came about, but some are describing it as the ground just opened up. The opening is about 50 yards wide and the length of seven football fields. Locals have been referring to the newly formed trench as “the gash.” Others just called it “the crack.”
SNS Outfitter and Guides offers guided elk, antelope, deer, moose and bear hunts. Its owner Sy Gililand said, “I don’t really think anyone knows what happened out there, all of a sudden it was just there. I think the reason it’s so fascinating is it’s so big. And it doesn’t make any sense, where it happened it’s just like the ground opened up, and the size of it is just huge.”
What is most baffling to people is not only the opening impressive size, but also the speed at which it formed.
What caused this phenomenon? An engineer from Riverton, WY came out to shed a little light on this giant crack in the earth. Apparently, a wet spring lubricated across a cap rock. Then, a small spring on either side caused the bottom to slide out. He estimated 15 to 20 million yards of movement. By range finder, an estimate is 750 yards long and about 50 yards wide.
Mother Earth never ceases to amaze us.
