Getting anything professionally done to your hair these days is ridiculously expensive — another added bill to throw on top of all the other far more necessary monthly costs. Paradoxically, having undyed, uncut locks has become something close to a fashion faux paux. What’s a girl to do?
We can save money and look unstylish or we can spend hundreds of dollars we simply don’t have just to please the masses and look fashionable. If you’re anything like me, you’ve tried to find cheaper solutions to this problem — buying each of the different brands of store-bought hair lightening products, one after another, only to discover that there’s a reason the up-scale salons can charge so much for their services; it simply doesn’t come out right when you try to use these dyes at home.
Finally, sick of ending up rocking varying shades of bright orange and sickly fluorescent yellow do’s, with dry, brittle, straw-like hair, you probably ended up back at the hair salon, just like me, paying more than you can afford for your stylist to fix the havoc you wrought on your own head. Well, at long last, I think I have found a gentle, safe and effective solution to my problem, and you’ll never guess what common items it uses. You probably already have the ingredients sitting in your kitchen pantry right this very second!
Here’s what you’ll need:
2-3 tablespoons of boiling water
1 teabag of chamomile tea
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
To lighten your hair with this natural, nourishing mixture, just blend these ingredients together and brush or comb through your hair two to three mornings per week before going out in the sun. Each day you apply this lightening solution, let the mixture sit on your hair for only fifteen minutes before washing it out as normal. Sun exposure enhances the effect, making this a perfect method to try on days where you’re already planning on enjoying the gorgeous San Diego sunshine at the park or beach with your kids.
