Natural disasters can strike in the blink of an eye and leave a wake of destruction that can take years to clean up. With some natural disasters, like hurricanes and tornadoes, you at least have a little time to prepare. But an earthquake comes with no warning and can leave a devastating aftermath.

For the people of Nepal, their whole world changed in a matter of seconds. The magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck throughout the region, bringing homes and buildings tumbling to the ground, killing more than 8,000 people and leaving thousands more injured.

This strong earthquake rippled throughout the Himalayan nation bringing devastation to many areas. The quake, which hit on April 25, has the people of Nepal still picking up the pieces.

Much of their infrastructure is still in ruins and many families lost loved ones. For the family in this video, they thought all hope was lost for their little baby. He had been missing for days and they thought he was another casualty of this terrible natural disaster.

But just when they were about to give up hope, a miracle happened. Rescuers were digging through the rubble of their home when they heard cries coming from a baby. They kept digging and finally reached their baby boy!

It’s stories like this that really lift my spirits and remind me that miracles really do happen.
