These Oreo Churros Are Insanely Delicious

The first time I tried churros, I thought, where have you been all of my life? Since that moment, my love affair with the snack has been uninterrupted. That is until I came across this recipe, courtesy of the good people at Pop Sugar. This Oreo Churros recipe is the best thing I have ever eaten.

To make this snack, you will need 20 Oreo cookies, 1 cup water, 3 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1 cup flour, 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ½ cup sugar, ½ cup heavy whipping cream, and oil for frying.

The first thing she does is separate the Oreo cookies, by scraping the filling into a bowl and then putting the chocolate cookies into a food processor. The food processor will turn the cookies into fine crumbs.

In a sauce pot, she brings the water, butter, brown sugar, and salt to a boil. In the meanwhile, she whisks together the flour, 2 tablespoons Oreo cookie crumbs, and cinnamon into a bowl. Once the water mixture has come to a boil, she removed it from the heat and mixed in the flour mixture. She mixes until all of the ingredients are blended well together. After the mixture has cooled, she whisks the eggs and vanilla extract and adds to the flour mixture.

She then lines two baking sheets with parchment paper and fills a piping bag with a star-shaped tip with the churro dough. She pipes the dough into 3-inch circles and places the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.

While the churros are freezing, she heats up the oil to 350ºF. Then in a medium-sized bowl, she mixes together the granulated sugar with the remaining Oreo cookie crumbs. Next, she fries 1 to 2 churros at a time, turning them over occasionally, so they cook evenly. She removes them from the fire and transfers them to a baking sheet lined with paper towel. She then tosses each churro in the sugar mixture while they are still hot.

To make the tastiest dipping sauce ever, she uses a hand mixer to whip heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks are formed. Then she gently incorporates the Oreo filling.

Enjoy a piece of heaven.
