All you need to get started is:
3 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of butter
1 1/3 cup of sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Red and blue food coloring
Instructions:
Mix together your flour, baking powder and salt before adding in your butter and mixing until smooth. Add in your sugar and beat an additional three minutes until it starts to look fluffy and then add your eggs and vanilla. Slowly add in your flour and beat until the mixture is combined.
Separate your dough into three equal sections and dye one blue and one red. Allow your dough to chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before moving on to the next step.
Roll out each color of dough into a rectangle about 1/8-inch thick and lay them on top of each other. Roll the three layers together into a log and refrigerate for 4 hours.
After your dough has chilled cut your log into 1/4-inch rounds and place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake your cookies for about 9 minutes in a 350 degree oven and enjoy!
