Remember the good ole days of soul music? You couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing quality music that you couldn’t help but sing along to. While the era of soul music may be over, it’s not forgotten.
Unfortunately, the legacy of soul music will now shine a little less bright. Percy Sledge, one of R&B’s greatest artists, passed away on Tuesday, April 14 at the age of 73. Sledge was in hospice battling cancer and passed away of natural causes in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
His career started in the 1960s with a couple of hits such as “Take Time To Know Her” and “Warm and Tender Love”. But Sledge skyrocketed to the top of the charts with his smash-hit song, “When A Man Loves A Woman”. This song put Sledge and his music on the map and made him a legend in the world of soul music.
Percy Sledge forever left a mark on the world of music and in our hearts. His incredible talent, great music and lovable personality will make him a legend for many years to come.
