Add A Pop Of Color To Your Dessert By Making Poke Cupcakes!

Erika Carter

We’ve all baked the cupcakes that fill up the house with a wonderful aroma. We bite into them, and while there is an amazing sensation that is currently happening in your mouth, there isn’t the same experience going on for your eyes. So, it’s time to change that! Today, we’re going to add a pop of color to our cupcakes with this Poke Cupcake recipe. All it takes is your favorite cupcake recipe or even a boxed cake, a fork, a packet of gelatin and water!

Remember that since you are trying to show off the color that you will be adding to your cupcakes, keep your batters light in color. Sticking to a white cake recipe would probably be best.

After you’ve baked your cupcakes, allow them to cool for 10 minutes. After they’ve cooled to room temperature, you can now take your fork and begin to poke three rows of holes into your cupcake, or more if that’s what you desire.

Now don’t get poke happy and go all the way down till you hit the bottom of the cupcake! A gentle poke that reaches approximately to the middle of the cupcake is just fine.

Now that we’ve gotten our cupcakes ready it’s time to grab our box of gelatin. Take 3 ounces of your favorite gelatin mix and combine that with 1 cup of boiling water. Stir the mixture until the granules have dissolved completely. Spoon the mixture over your cupcakes and watch as the color is soaked up by the cake. You will want to let this sit in the fridge for 30 minutes before you begin to frost your colorful creation.

Feel free to mix and match gelatin flavors with different frostings in order to try numerous creations. SHARE the love and pass it on!
